Developing a Business Plan
We formed our committee in September 2008, and have been working hard towards our goal of opening a community owned shop and cafe in our village.
We are now up to the point of preparing our Business Plan, and it would be really helpful to have information about other community owned shops in terms of the size of population they serve, the percentage who use the shop, and whether this has grown or diminished over time, to support research which will help us with our trading forecasts.

Dear Jane,
This information is being collected on the individual shop profile pages and as people start to fill these in we will be able to do some analysis and produce tables in the same way that we are already doing on info such as legal structure, county etc.Is this the sort of thing you had in mind? Is this a helpful way of producing the data and is there anything else we could be doing?
At the moment there are one or two problems on the individual shops pages that Graham (who manages the site) is trying to sort out.
Best wishes,

Hello all,
Titchmarsh Village Shop in Northamptonshire prepared two versions of their business plan during the development of their community-owned shop project. The first was prepared in the early days of the project, and the second was prepared as an operational bulletin when the project was well advanced, to be clearer to investors how the project was progressing and providing a brief as to the key developments relating to aspects from the original business plan.
Best wishes
