Are You Keeping Up With The Archers?
On June 2nd this year, the fictional village of Ambridge celebrated the opening of their Community owned shop following months of fund raising and hard work.
Like so many communities, they turned to the Plunkett Foundation for advice and support. In one episode, the shop committee discussed the Village CORE programme as an essential source of finance in their endeavours to retain their much valued village shop. The committee also have local food high on the agenda, being keen to ensure they stock a wide range of local produce to attract more customers and also develop close links with local suppliers. Perhaps Ambridge Village Shop will also be a recruit on our free Look for Local Food Scheme which helps community shops enhance their local food offering!
Now the shop is open and run by a team of volunteers headed up by Kathy Perks, many of the scenes and dramas are set in the shop.
If you have missed an episode you can catch-up via The Archers' website today.
