Many thanks, Peter. I have telephoned the Wistanstow shop and it is larger than us - so unless we hear otherwise, it still appears that we can lay claim to being the smallest community shop in the country at 10ft x 10ft. But I hope that when we open we can reach the standards of customer service you describe at Wistanstow!

We will not be the smallest, approx 15 sq.metres, but Eardisland Community Shop opened it's doors at mid-day on 31 March so we are the newest. We are situated in the ground floor of a 17th century Dovecote, a grade 2 listed building, so can probably claim to be unique also.
Thanks to all at Plunkett, particularly Donna,Harriet and Pat for their support and Brian at Mortimer Stores and Chris at Whitbourne for their advice, guidance, sharing of knowledge and encouragement.

Many congratulations to you and the Village, Albert. Can we get you to fill in a shops listing (see the shops tab above) so that everyone can see the details of your shop and the shops counter can move to 234.
I think that the smallest I've seen is Wistanstow (http://www.plunkett.uk.net/shop/wistanstow-village-shop-old-smithy-community-village-shop). I don't have its measurements and think that you beat it but I do know that was one of the most customer service focused shops I've ever been in.
